O-Level Science Revision with AI

For the 2026 O-Levels, science practicals run from late September to mid-October: Chemistry on 30 September, Physics on 5 October, Combined Science on 8 October, Biology on 13 October. Written papers follow from 19 October to 10 November, and results arrive in mid-January 2027. Two numbers shape revision. In Pure Science, the practical component makes up 20% of the final grade; in Combined Science it is 15%. Practicals are worth real marks, so they deserve real revision time.

When a textbook paragraph refuses to make sense, AI can explain it differently, and sometimes the second explanation clicks. Ask for plain language, then a worked example:

Explain [topic, e.g. redox reactions or photosynthesis] for O-Level [subject] as if I have never seen it before. Use an everyday analogy, then a worked example, then list the 3 exam-style points I must remember. Keep it under 250 words.

Follow up with "give me 3 past-paper style questions on this" and answer them before checking.

Pure Science Paper 3 includes planning and experimental design: "describe how you would carry out an experiment to..." questions. These are coachable with AI:

Act as an O-Level Science examiner. Give me a planning question like: "Describe how you would carry out an experiment to investigate [variable]." I will answer it. Then mark my answer against the marking scheme: aim, apparatus, method, control of variables, safety, and reliability. Tell me what I missed, one point at a time.

Do one of these a day in the month before the practical exams. The format is predictable, and practice pays off fast.

Multiple-choice questions test speed and precision, with 40 questions in an hour for some papers. Use AI to build drills with full explanations:

Create 10 O-Level [subject] multiple-choice questions on [topics], at the correct difficulty. After I answer all 10, mark them and explain each wrong answer in one or two sentences, referring to the syllabus concept it tests.

Read every explanation even when you answer correctly. The fastest students understand why the other options are wrong.

Recent papers lean harder on data interpretation: tables, graphs and "what does this tell you" questions. Practise reading data deliberately:

Give me a table of experimental results for [topic, e.g. enzyme activity at different temperatures]. Ask me 4 questions: describe the trend, explain it using theory, identify one anomaly, and suggest one improvement to the method. Mark my answers after.

In the real exam, underline the units and check the axes before writing anything. Most data errors come from reading the wrong scale.

AI cannot hold a test tube. Practical skills, reading a burette, setting up apparatus, working safely, only improve with your hands in the lab, so take the school's practical revision sessions seriously. Never let AI write answers you submit, never invent experimental data, and check every fact against your textbook. Keep prompts free of personal data.
