AI for the Year-End Report Card: PSLE Results & Secondary School Choices

PSLE results for 2026 are expected in late November, around 24 to 25 November following recent years, with MOE confirming the exact date closer to the day. Your child collects the results slip at school from 11am. From 11.30am the same day, the S1 Portal opens for you to submit six school choices, and it stays open for about a week. Posting results arrive in mid-December, and your child reports to the new school in early January.

That week is intense, which is exactly where a clear head and good information matter. AI cannot decide for you, but it can organise the comparison so you decide calmly.

Every year, parents ask what cut-off point (COP) a school "will" have. Nobody knows in advance. COPs are set after posting, based on the actual scores of students who applied that year, so last year's COP is a guide, never a promise. The official starting points are the PSLE score ranges published by MOE and the SchoolFinder tool, which lists programmes, CCAs and locations.

Before any AI comparison, write down your child's score, your address for proximity, and any special needs or DSA considerations. Then let AI organise, not invent.

Ask it to check each school's website for Applied Learning Programmes (ALPs) and Learning for Life Programmes (LLPs). These shape your child's daily experience more than a one-point COP difference.

Open houses usually run before results, but schools still take enquiries by phone or email. Use AI to prepare questions that reveal what brochures do not:

Generate 10 questions to ask a Singapore secondary school for a child interested in [interest, e.g. robotics, band, basketball]. Cover: subject combinations offered, CCA time, support for weaker students, and how the school communicates with parents.

Bring the list along. Schools respect parents who ask specific questions, and the answers tell you more than any prospectus.

The posting is your child's life, not just a form to fill. Before submitting choices, have a conversation that treats them as part of the decision:

Do not paste your child's name, NRIC or school details into AI tools. Keep prompts about scores and preferences only, and double-check any school fact against the official site. If the result disappoints, know the options: appeals exist through the school or MOE channels, and many students thrive after a posting they did not expect.
